Five Racers That Prove Phones Can Do Speed

Five Racers That Prove Phones Can Do Speed

April 28, 2026 · Mikael Berg

There's a stubborn myth that phones can't deliver a proper racing game. After months of testing, I'm here to tell you that's nonsense — you just have to know which ones to install.

The best of the bunch lean into tilt steering, because nothing beats the physical feeling of leaning into a corner by tilting your whole device. Turbo Canyon Run is my current go-to for exactly this reason: it trusts you with the controls and rewards you with genuine speed.

Not every racer needs realism, either. Some of my favorite sessions came from arcade-style games that let you drift around every corner and never touch the brakes. Those are the ones I reach for on a short bus ride.

My one tip for any mobile racer: spend five minutes in the settings tuning the tilt sensitivity before you judge the game. The default is almost always too twitchy, and a small tweak can turn a frustrating racer into a brilliant one.
