Emberfall Chronicle
★★★★★ 4.5
Emberfall Chronicle surprised us. We expected another generic mobile RPG and got a tightly written adventure with characters we actually started caring about. Combat is turn-based with a timing element — nail the tap window on an attack and you get a small bonus, which keeps battles from feeling automatic.
Exploration happens across hand-drawn maps, and the writing carries it. The party argues, jokes, and occasionally refuses to do what you want, which gives the whole thing personality. We spent a good fifteen hours and never felt pushed to rush.
It's a chunky download and the menus are a little busy, but for a story you can carry in your pocket, this is one of the better ones we've reviewed.
What we liked
- Writing with actual personality
- Timing-based combat that stays engaging
- Generous, steady progression
